Mexican Billionaire: Why The Rich Are Storing Bitcoin
Mexico’s 3rd wealthiest citizen, business magnate Ricardo Salinas Pliego, who has an estimated net worth of $13 Billion, did an interview with Insightdefi’s Pascal Hügli, in which he spoke at length about Bitcoin and how he came into the asset. Pliego’s shared how his father was and still is a huge gold bug, so Ricardo constantly heard the disdain of fiat, and he saw it too. Back in the 1990s, Mexico shaved off a few zeros from their currency and saw massive inflation and that story is not unique to Mexico. Germany, Zimbabwe, and Venezuela can all speak about that experience. And while Ricardo understands how gold can be a hedge, he also deeply understands how well gold can be manipulated by the central banks. It wasn’t until he read Saifedean’s work, particularly the ‘Bitcoin Standard’, did he come into a full understanding how Bitcoin is the truly next store of value technology. And he believes we’re still very early, as most of Mexico’s older generation have no clue about Bitcoin. Pliego is long Bitcoin, is accepting bitcoin in all of his private business holdings, and suggests you become long bitcoin too. Listen to what he has to say.
